Langdons Industries is a logistics operator which transfers around 25,000 pallets of food every week. They have a driver training programme for their large workforce and train staff in driver and road safety. The logistics company has a large number of drivers all over the UK who are trained at their various depots across England.
The Aim
The Training Manager at Langdons Industries required a way of further engaging staff during training sessions and providing and extra element of fun to the training. He wanted a system that would work well with his existing PowerPoint lessons and that would provide comprehensive feedback on staff progress.
Solution:
Langdons Industries now utilise their Qwizdom kit for their Driver Cpc sessions to engage the drivers and assess the knowledge base.
Ron Smith, Driver Training Manager at Langdons said:
"The kit allows me to see if the drivers understand what they have been taught and it also allows me to check what their previous knowledge level is, this way we can highlight any shortcomings they may have."
Using Qwizdom means that the whole of the training session will have a handset and be totally engaged with the trainer. The reporting tool allows all of their responses to be tracked and shown in real time as well as stored in Excel, PDF or Flash for post session analysis.
Ron Smith said:
"Before the Qwizdom handsets it would be a case of verbally asking questions; some drivers would answer lots of questions and others would not answer any. With Qwizdom there is no way they cannot answer, so there are no shrinking violets in the corner not answering, they have to answer before we can move on to the next part of the presentation."

Ron added:
"We always use the Track presentation and they do tend to get annoyed with themselves if they answer the questions incorrectly and their car starts to go back! It is a good job the hand sets are robust as they do tend to get slammed on the desk if they get the wrong answer."
